Sources: Sony reportedly cut PlayStation VR2 production in half

Sony has halved production of the upcoming PlayStation VR2 headset due to low pre-order numbers, according to the latest Bloomberg report.

Last October, Sony announced its intention to produce 2 million PlayStation VR2 headsets to meet expected demand. Now, it has cut forecast shipments in half, to one million, for this quarter.

In the next fiscal year, Sony hopes to ship another 1.5 million units of PS VR2, but it remains to be seen if the new virtual reality headset is successful in its initial launch, which will be on February 22.

With its steep price tag and current launch titles, many gamers are deciding PlayStation VR2 isn’t worth the money right now, and it seems it’s up to Sony to change those ideas.
