Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Review

spider man: across the spider verse review

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse hits theaters offering one of the best animated experiences in recent times and in the next few paragraphs I’m going to tell you what I think of the story (no spoilers).

everyone he loved Into the Spider-Verse, he was probably just as eager to see the movie as I was. Not only for the next adventure but to see how much its creators had evolved from the first one. The animation in this film is practically 70%, since we have action, gestures and above all an excellent graphic line.

The performance of each of the actors who lent their voices is incredible and I want to start with the most important thing because in the end that’s what it’s all about. In this case we are not seeing facial expressions but you can feel how each of the actors “literally” got into her character, giving life to some already known and others that were introduced in a good way.

The film has a duration of 2 hours and 16 minutes, I can say that not even for a second did I feel the need to rest my eyes on everything that was happening. It’s a great story and we all know that’s what Spider-Man is all about, good get over quotes make you feel like a superhero yourself.

In Across the Spider-Verse a lot of things are introduced that don’t feel unnecessary or forced, instead they take their time to subtly let us know that this is the new normal and everything we might have known before makes a little more sense now. Some dialogues for me were somewhat predictable but the scenes have their touch.

One of the problems that I found when watching the film is that in some cases the conversations were low volume and the atmosphere along with the soundtrack drastically overshadowed the good moments. I saw it in the original language in IMAX format, I really couldn’t comment if a different version had this problem or the ones dubbed into Spanish. What I do know is that I enjoy every detail, every reference (many) and above all I enjoy this new adventure.

Like all Spider-Man (they say it in the trailer) he is supposed to be funny and friendly. The movie has its jokes of all kinds, some for people who understand a lot of comic book references but others that really make the movie family friendly. The conflicts are there, the results of the decisions we make are reflected in each animation of the film.

As we had published in our news about spider gwen, you can see how the character develops more and they give it the prominence that it needed. In Into the Spider-Verse it can be seen how it is part of one of the bunch but now we see how its only objective is (as they have shown in the trailers) to help others.

For me, this installment surpassed the previous one and I hope that this third part (Beyond the Spider-Verse) that opens on March 24, 2029 surpasses the previous two. It would be a total disappointment if it were not, but with how pending it was in this second installment, I doubt very much that this third installment will leave us with a bad taste.

New characters have marked their territory in this new film, we have a less child and more adolescent Miles Morales. We are facing the evolution of a character who did not know what would happen but then we literally have the only Spider-Man in that universe. The references were there, a lot of them you didn’t need to understand in order to assimilate the movie so that’s not something to worry about.

Each actor played their role in a good way and I think that making a live action movie of the same character is a huge challenge. For me, when it comes to miles morales there are only two that are Insomniac Games and this so that any next installment has a long gap to cover.

To conclude, there is not much more to say without giving some tasteless spoilers. My suggestion is that if you’re a fan, keep your eyes off social media and watch it as soon as you can. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse It is a jewel that can only be surpassed by itself. The story is well told, structured and above all enriched with new characters that have proven to fit better in this film. Don’t expect any post-credits scenes or anything like that, just enjoy the screen time because right now it’s the Spider-Man movie we always need in our lives.
