Square Enix mistakenly leaks the remake of Star Ocean: The Second Story

Enix, leaks, mistakenly, Ocean, remake, Square, star, story

In 2019 Square Enix published Star Ocean First Departure R, the remake of the Tri-Ace JRPG title that originally came out for Super Nintendo in 1996, and then had a later version for PSP in 2007, until getting a definitive remake, Star Ocean: First Departure R, for PS4 and Nintendo Switch in 2019. With a playable style very similar to the series such ofit seems that this new version has done quite well, because now we have proof that its sequel in the same vein is underway.

The RPG Site portal has discovered a Star Ocean: The Second Story R banner on the Square Enix website, which has been quickly hidden or removed.

At the moment it is unknown what state of development the project is in, in the absence of an official statement from the studio or the publisher, but we will surely know more in the coming months. We understand that Star Ocean: The Second Story R will presumably adapt the original title released on PlayStation in 1998 in Japan and not the subsequent remasters for PSP, PS Vita, PS3 and PS4 that were released in 2008 and 2015 under the title Star Ocean: Second Evolution.
