Starfield surpasses six million players on launch day, breaking records and becoming Bethesda’s biggest launch of all time.

Bethesda advertisement the figure yesterday, September 7, just after Starfield was fully released. Six million players at launch make Starfield Bethesda’s biggest launch of all time, even if it skipped launch on PlayStation platforms entirely.

This record-breaking launch can probably be attributed to Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. All subscribers to the services would have gotten Starfield earlier this week, on September 6 at launch, almost a week after Early Access players got access on September 1.

Skyrim reportedly sold nearly three and a half million copies in two days in 2011. If a little more than half of Starfield’s player base purchased the RPG directly instead of getting it through Xbox Game Pass, it would have effectively surpassed Skyrim launch sales.

On the other hand, on September 6, Starfield surpassed one million concurrent players on all platforms.
