Some time ago we told you that Steam DeckValve’s laptop, allowed Windows to be installed to be able to enjoy games outside of Steam, including PC Game Pass, but we also clarified that it was an installation with limitations that could encourage more than one user to think twice, such as the device’s speakers not working. Well, a few weeks have passed since that and today Valve has finally announced that the new steam deck update allows the complete installation of Windows 11, among other new features.
The Steam Deck update has brought with it the fTPM security mechanism, which in practice allows the correct installation of Windows 11. From Valve they explain that to update this hybrid between console and laptop we have to make sure that it is in ‘game mode’, and not in ‘desktop mode’. Once we install the latest version of the software we can enjoy all the news that are detailed in the official patch notes.
Other new features of the Steam Deck update
In addition to the ability to install Windows 11, the Steam Deck update has also added a new lock screen in which access to the console can be limited by PIN, an improvement for the keyboard, which is now shown localized to 21 languages, support for multiple windows in games and applications, giving us the possibility to switch between them, an update of the layout of the home page achievementsfriends tab changes and many other fixes.
Steam Deck It is available at a price that in USA ranges between 419 for the most basic version and 679 for the 512 GB version.
