For many Ubisoft titles and the subscription service “Ubisoft+” you need “Ubisoft Connect” (formerly “Uplay”) on the PC. There is currently no version of the launcher for the Steam Deck or Linux in general. Here we show you how you can still install Ubisoft Connect and your games on the Steam Deck.
Compatibility Notice
Since the Steam Deck’s operating system is based on Linux, but the games and Ubisoft Connect itself are written for Windows, they run on the handheld PC via the “Proton” compatibility layer. For this reason not all games are executable or can have various bugs and glitches.
If you want to check if a certain game will run on the deck before downloading, you should check ProtonDB for example. Of course, you can also simply test for yourself whether a game is running if you can’t find any information about it online or if the compatibility information is out of date.

Installing Ubisoft Connect
- Start the Steam Deck and press the [STEAM]-Button.
- Select the item in the side menu “On off” and then “Switch to desktop” out of.

- After the installation file is downloaded, open it Steam in the desktop mode.
- Open on the bottom left “+ Add game” and chooses “Add non-Steam game…” out of.

- Then press the “Selected programs Hi…” button.
- In the Steam library you click with the right mouse button on UbisoftConnectInstaller.exe and then up “Properties”.

- Choose the language off and then click on “I accept”if you agree to license agreements.
- Click in this Target directory fieldthe virtual keyboard should open automatically – if not, press [STEAM] + [X].
- Give as installation path

- Click “Continue”when the installation is complete.
- Removed now the hook at “Run Ubisoft Connect” and presses “Complete”.

- The installation file is no longer required. Makes a right click on UbisoftConnectInstaller.exe and click below “Administer” on “Remove non-Steam game from library”.

- Press the “Browse” button and navigated to
/home/deck/UbisoftConnect. - Chooses “All Files” in the drop down menu and then the UbisoftConnect.exe out of.

Downloading and installing games works like on PC. Before you use Ubisoft’s launcher on the Steam Deck, you should first customize the controller, as we explain in the next paragraph.
Adjust controllers
So that you can operate the launcher and most games without constantly adjusting the controller settings, we suggest the following setting, which combines gamepad and mouse:
- in the game mode you press the [STEAM]-Buttonchooses “Library” off and navigate to “ForeEsports Extrasto Steam”.
- Chooses “Ubisoft Connect“ and click on that controller icon.
- Press the current layout and choose among the “Templates” tab the layout “Gamepad with high-precision camera/aiming” out of.
