Take-Two Retires Grand Theft Auto AI Mod Project

take two retires grand theft auto ai mod project

A modder from Grand Theft Auto claims that his work has been blocked by Take-Two. The modder curiously calls himself Bloc and, in a new post on his YouTube channel, he has explained that his project has ceased to exist due to an alleged shutdown by Take-Two.

Sentient Streets allowed players to chat with NPCs through the microphone. From cult members to police officers, the player would experience different personalities and could respond to the player in a multitude of ways.

However, Bloc claims that Take-Two, Rockstar’s parent company, has removed his project, stating in his YouTube channel post that “Take-Two Interactive sued my channel with a copyright claim on my GTA V mod video and YouTube immediately removed the video without giving me any opportunity to explain myself.”

“The reason for this attack by Take-Two Interactive on my YouTube channel was because I used their software (GTA V) in the video. Nobody from Take-Two Interactive contacted me or asked me anything before this, they just removed the video out of nowhere. Two days ago, my account on Netlify was also suspended. I used Netlify to host the mod installation guide. I contacted the complainant’s email address listed on YouTube (which was an email address Take-Two’s email address), hoping that it might be a small misunderstanding or that they could explain the reason to me. Perhaps this happened automatically, but the evidence suggests a deliberate manual DMCA request on their part. Neither I received no response. It seems they are attacking the mod from all sides.”

Bloc also lashed out at Rockstar and the recent port of Red Dead Redemption, saying: “Instead of chasing little mods, maybe [Rockstar] Should he focus on creating proper remakes with better pricing or should he stop releasing cars from GTA Online to sell those same cars to people.”
