Famed Katsuhiro Harada took to the stage at Gamescom 2023 to give an update on Tekken 8. In addition to talking about the launch, the franchise producer/director also made a sweet reveal regarding a new game mode.

A punchy trailer for Tekken 8

As suggested by a leak, tekken 8 will be available from January 26, 2024 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Upon release, the fighting game will have a cast of 32 fighters with Kazuya Mishima, Jin Kazama, Nina Williams, Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, King, Lars Alexandersson, Hwoarang, Jack-8 etc.

The essential Story mode will be back in Tekken 8 with a major novelty, the Arcade Quest. A single-player mode that wants “to recreate the arcade feeling of fighting games”. Like street fighter 6Dragon Ball FighterZ or the franchise Guilty Gear, players will be able to have a cute or ugly avatar depending on taste, and navigate through a hub with different activities such as playing on an arcade machine. It really looks like the recent SF6 World Tour.

The new Tekken 8 trailer also reveals the release of three editions, Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate, with unique pre-order bonuses. Everyone who reserves a copy will receive the avatar of Paul Phoenix. And for PS5 players, there will be the Mokujin avatar skin. At launch, the fighting game will have an expected feature. Cross-play to face fighters from all platforms (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC). Additionally, Tekken 8’s multiplayer should provide a quality experience thanks to netcode rollback. An option to reduce the lag as much as possible. If you lose a match, it will therefore logically be your fault but not that of the title…
