The beginning of the PS4 end? Sony is putting much more focus on PS5 for 2023
Spider-Man 2 is one of the games that will no longer appear on Sony’s Last Gen.
The Current Gen has been on the market for a good two years, but the generation change has still not really taken place. Titles like Sony’s big blockbuster God of War Ragnarök appeared for both the PS5 and the PS4, which is now almost ten years old. However, it now looks very much as if Sony will focus more on pure current-gen releases in the future.
Trailer shows almost twice as many pure PS5 titles
A new trailer has appeared on the official PlayStation YouTube channel showing 23 upcoming PS4 and PS5 releases. If you follow the video carefully, you should notice that most of the games have the annotation “coming to PS5 only” at the bottom.
These include games like Forspoken, which will be released soon, but also the DLC for Horizon Forbidden West, which was released as a cross-gen title. Of course, “only appears on the PS5” does not mean in this case that the games are exclusive to Sony. Since the video appeared on the PlayStation Channel, it doesn’t take into account other console manufacturers and PC.
You can watch the trailer for yourself here:
Here are all 15 titles shown in the trailer that will no longer be coming to PS4 in 2023:
- Final Fantasy 16
- Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores (DLC)
- Spider-Man 2
- Forspoken
- Suicide Squad
- DeadSpace Remake
- Stellar Blade
- Star Wars: Jedi Survivor
- Alone in the Dark (Reboot)
- Firewall Ultra (only with PSVR 2)
- Pacific Drive
- The Lords of the Fallen
- Horizon Call of the Mountain (only with PSVR 2)
- SynDuality
- Wildhearts

Just over half as many Cross Gen games: Next to it are in the video only eight games included that appear for both console generations, including Hogwarts Legacy or smaller titles such as the island adventure Tchia or the bicycle adventure Season: A letter to the future. So almost twice as many pure PS5 titles are shown in the trailer. This is certainly due to the fact that the major availability problems that prevailed at the beginning no longer exist.
Are you excited that PS4 games are still coming out or do you prefer pure current gen releases?
