The creator of Monkey Island fantasizes aloud about bringing back one of the greatest classics of PC adventure games

In recent years, we are seeing how big names in the retro video game scene are coming back to life. The return of System Shock, the appearance of WoW: Classic and, above all, the new Monkey Island, are examples of how the video game industry wants to return to give the podium to great classics.

If there is a name that is associated with retro PC video games, it is that of Ron Gilbert, the original creator of Monkey Island. After being the target of controversy for the artistic style of Return to Monkey Island, the North American creative has decided not to talk about his new game anymore, but that doesn’t mean that he won’t talk about other of his great classics.

Via your twitter accountGilbert proposes that Maniac Mansion, one of his first video games and precursor to the all-important Day of the Tentacle, make a comeback, albeit with a few surprises. According to the creator, he would do it by adding changes, such as 50% puzzles never seen before and a new character.

The creative closes the tweet by asking David B. Fox, lead programmer of Return to Monkey Island if he would sEsports Extrasup, receiving a positive response in this regard. Although all this makes us dream, it should be noted that Gilbert himself has said that he is only fantasizing about the idea for now

For now, we are going to have to “make do” with Return to Monkey Island, one of the most important graphic adventures of recent years. Hand in hand with Devolver Digital, we know that it will arrive in sometime in 2022, although at the moment it does not have a fixed departure date.
