On the occasion of the Summer Game Fest, the Polish studio The Astronauts has announced the release date from his shooter of dark fantasy Witchfire together with a new gameplay trailer, which you can find below these lines. In case you were not familiar with it, it is one of the most anticipated titles of the double-A scene and of the genre: its graphics, the desEsports Extrasof its enemies, the handling of weapons or the abilities and elemental compatibilities of these have caused a lot of hype among fans in recent years.
Finally, we will be able to get hold of it on September 20, yes, in early access format and exclusively through the Epic Games Store. You can now put it on the wish list to be notified when it is available. If you are interested in getting it through Steam (or you prefer to play on console) you will have to wait until it comes out of this development phase, as reported by its managers at the end of last year through its always large and instructive blog of The astronauts.
Witchfire is a game of rogue-lite action, which means you don’t lose your stuff if you die between one game and the next. It was originally designed as an arena, with 100% closed rooms and developer-controlled enemy spawns; but it has ended up with a semi-open world with traps and some kind of puzzle, which gives us certain freedoms when practicing the dangerous profession of witch hunter.
The game will have support for ultra-wide monitors (in 21:9 format, at least) and DLSS 3 resolution scaling. It is developed on Unreal Engine 4.
