The first details of the new Battlefield leave DICE in a secondary place for the first time in years

DICE’s track record with the Battlefield saga is one that has given us incredible games, but also some lack of imagination in recent installments. While everything seemed to indicate that the Swedes were going to take exclusive charge of the saga shooter from EA, today we know that they will finally be 2 studies those who are in charge of development of the next installment.

The news actually acts as a sequel to the one we met last September and which placed Ridgeline Games, the new Electronic Arts studio under the helm of Halo co-creator Marcus Letho, at the helm of a narrative Battlefield story. According to the VideoGameChronicles portal, SAYS will be part of Ridgeline Games support team in the future project.

Thus, Letho’s studio will be in charge of taking the lead during the single-player experience, while DICE will offer support and develop the multiplayer side in parallel. “Our decision to build our single player team here at DICE is a proactive approach that arms our global teams with the resources they need early on as we look to the next Battlefield experience,” says DICE’s Rebecka Coutaz.

Team manager Marcus Letho added that he was delighted with the idea as it “will allow them to build a CampaEsports Extrasfor single player that will engage players in new ways; and, at the same time, will remain true to the elements classics that make Battlefield truly unique.”

Of course, they will not be the only 2 teams that are in charge of Battlefield as IP. The other development studio is Ripple Effect, another Electronic Arts studio that changed its name in 2021. This one, which previously worked on Medal of Honor: Allied Assault: Spearhead, will be in charge of another project of the saga of which no details are known about it, but apparently it will not have the support of DICE, even if everything stays at home.
