Instead of a traditional multiplayer part or a new Factions mode, Naughty Dog is working on an ambitious multiplayer project that will appear as a standalone.
This has been in the works for some time, but is still holding back on official details. According to Naughty Dog, it’s too early to talk about it, which is why they’re holding it back for as long as necessary or until Sony decides to show it off.
The former environment designer, Mathew Seymour, is a bit more open, revealing some details from his work in his LinkedIn CV that certainly make you sit up and take notice. According to his own statements, he worked on the project from June 2020 to December 2021.
Are you aiming for a dense atmosphere?
Although the project is a multiplayer title, Naughty Dog also aims for a very dense atmosphere. He writes:
“Was working on an unannounced title and was loaned out by Bend Studio. Was working on a multiplayer title with a very dense city with lots of detail.”
Apart from that, his work included layout, population, macro/micro polishing, modeling, texturing, scripting, desEsports Extrastools, map and POI design, as well as internal development tools like Maya.
Even if the title in The Last of Usuniverse, Naughty Dog refers to it as a brand new IP.
However, an official presentation cannot be expected before 2023, and a releaser much later. Until then, the only artwork so far (above) from it will be shown.
