As we have seen in the last two comparisons of The Last of Us Part I, one that shows Joel and Tommy in the forest and another with Joel, Sarah and Tommy in the first bars of the story, Naughty Dog’s work seems not stop surprising. On this occasion, the company surprises us with a new comparison focused on buildings and the sea.
The Last of Us Part 1: comparison between PS4 and PS5
The new comparison that shows naughty dog puts The Last of Us Remastered on PS4 face to face now The Last of Us Part I. Fire does not make an appearance, but water does. Although the lighting (lights and shadows) and the colors are once again the protagonists, the buildings and other elements of the setting deserve special attention.

You can also see this comparison up to 4K. The water has not received a huge change, but the buildings cannot say the same. It is not about two misplaced changes, but about brand new buildings with many more windows and a larger size.
As for the light, the first shot is a sunset and you can see how the sun’s rays hit all the windows and how all the objects and structures cast their shadows.
In the second scene, the light is at the back and the shadows can be seen in much more detail. They have changed many elements of the stage like the ships of the port. They are now floating (previously half-sunken) and rocking with the waves.
The Last of Us Part I It has a darker setting (with more shadows and contrasts) than its original version. Although we have seen the night in another comparison, I am looking forward to seeing the interior dark areas and the behavior of the flashlight and flashing lights, for example.

The tweet ends with a challenge: “How far do you think you will go in a Permadeath race?“It is very likely that this last mode will be the milestone stage for speedrunners and non-hitters. One thing is clear: The Last of Us Part I is not a simple cosmetic change from the remaster and the original game.
The Last of Us Part I It will be available on September 2, 2022 on PS5. The PC version will take a little longer to arrive.
