The Last of Us series fires Vogel for being a bad pianist
The creators of The Last of Us series had to fire an animal actor without further ado.
The HBO series about The Last of Us is strongly based on the video game template, but allows itself to incorporate its own small details in some places. Although the action from The Last of Us Part 1 is completely retold, the writers have lived out their creative streak in the presentation of some things.
For example, instead of dangerous fungal spores, there are tendrils that the infected use to communicate with each other. As writer and director Druckmann now reveals, one change didn’t quite go according to plan.

Vogel screwed up his appearance and was replaced
What happened? In the second episode, Joel, Ellie and Tess end up in a remote hotel that has now mutated into a swamp. The lobby is filled with water in which some animal residents have made themselves comfortable.
Upon entering the lobby, a frog plays a sonorous melody on a piano by hopping around on the keys. But as Druckmann now reveals, the star on the piano shouldn’t have been a frog, but a bird:

What did the bird mess up? Actually, the bird should walk over the keys and play the melody. An artificial frog should serve as prey and encourage the bird to run over the keys.
Apparently the bird didn’t find its artificial food particularly tasty and didn’t care a bit about the frog. That’s why the bird had to be replaced by a real frog, which now plays a little melody on the piano.

The first reviews show that The Last of Us has become a good to very good adaptation of the video game template. The critics particularly emphasized the acting performances of Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey.
