The most exaggerated graphics card is a beast with 44GB of VRAM that has cost thousands of euros, and the worst thing is that it is useless | Top News
In the last few months, there’s been a lot of talk about how 8GB VRAM graphics cards are starting to get tight in terms of performance. Since then, GPU memory has been a point of contention, especially for NVIDIA. Now, some fans have proposed to do a project that is absurd: create the first 44GB VRAM card.
Using an RTX 2080 Ti as a base, which normally has the typical nothing of 11 GB of memory, Twitter user @TCatTheLynx proposed create the ultimate GPU. Well, more or less, because it has a big problem: it’s not suitable for playing Crysis… or no other video gameaccording to its creators.
We recently talked about the RTX 3070 with 16GB of VRAM, a model of this GPU that should not exist. By unsoldering old modules and soldering new ones, it is possible to increase the amount of video memory a card can hold. This mammoth 44 GB model may look like a similar case, but it is, in fact, much more complex.
Using a Quadro RTX 8000 as a base, a type of GPU not made for gaming that costs more than 5,000 eurosthis modder soldered the processing unit of a RTX 2080Ti to the base of this card. In addition, he also flashed the BIOS of the 2080 Ti and ended up creating a custom beast.
According to TCat, he burned 7 RTX 2080 Tis for this project and, after achieving it, now he has to face a new problem: the stability of the card, which prevents him from being able to play games or run any benchmark. After months and months of work, this is perhaps the most complicated part of the mod. Will he be able to solve it? And, above all, will it be able to run Crysis?
