We already have the first performance track of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090and it is…
Yesterday we had the notice NVIDIA of when its new generation of GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs will be presented, and just a day later we already have the first performance test of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090. Its top-of-the-line GPU has already been seen revealing its initial performance in popular benchmarking software. 3DMark Time Spy Extreme.
Going to what matters, this graph managed to achieve a score of 20,192 points in said benchmark, which is more than initially expected 19,000 points. Performance was generally low as it was tested alongside an Intel Core i5-12400F processor, but if we focus only on the GPU, we’re talking about what it’s all about. 90% faster than its predecessorthe GeForce RTX 3090. Looking to compare it to the current top-of-the-line GPU, the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, the new GPU is 78% faster.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 offers great performance without problems in the temperature
Another detail of great relevance is that the GPU managed to reach a frequency of no less than 3.015MHzsomething doubly impressive. First because of the frequency it reaches, and second, because it is an engineering sampleso this frequency will be superior to its launch official, and even more so if we think of the Custom models.
Best of all, is that, at an ambient temperature around 30ºC, the graph moved at a very low temperature. Although it shows us a temperature of 55.07ºCat some point the GPU reached an even higher temperature, but it seems that increase could be hovering around 60ºC, which is exceptional. According to the leaks, in essence we would have the improved GeForce RTX 3090 cooling system and with the addition of new larger fans.
The very source that leaked the information indicated that the GPU is “very big“, to the point that it seems that it is designed to cool a power consumption between 600 – 800W, while it is expected that the GPU will have a TDP of 450W.
“The temperature at the time of the test was 30 degrees at room temperature,” leaker 烟花易凉 said.
“This card is air-cooled, and the radiator is very large. It is estimated that a standard mid-tower cannot fit, and it is impossible to take pictures of it. It seems that it is designed to look like 600-800W, but the default TDP is very low and only 450w. It is estimated that the Custom versions will reach 800W”.
Known specifications of the GeForce RTX 4090
If there are no surprises involved, this GPU will make use of the AD102-300 graphics chip with 16,384 CUDA Cores at a frequency of 2,235/2,520 MHz, which is much lower compared to the 3.01GHz seen today. We continue with access to 24GB of GDDR6X memory at a frequency of 21 Gbps which, together with a memory interface, would give us a bandwidth of 1,008GB/s.
This would be the first GeForce RTX 40 graphics to debut, now the biggest doubt is the price to pay for this remarkable leap in performance.
