The physical edition of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will require a mandatory download
It appears that physical copies of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will require a mandatory download before you can play the title for the first time. According to a publication on Reddit, dedicated to the title, the physical editions are already reaching authorized stores. And when seeing it, users have confirmed that they contain a small text on the front of the cover, where the need for the download is specified, in both the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions. It should be noted that the size of the download itself has not yet been confirmed.
This has not surprised many, since the North American company has already made public the specifications of the title, where it was revealed that the game will occupy about 150 GB on the hard drive. Although it must be taken into account that in the Xbox Series S version, this number is lower (44 GB) because only the 4K texture loads will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC.
The reality that this trend with physical releases comes from afar. We remember cases like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (71 GB), where players had to download all the content over the internet, or Metro Exodus, which also required a download almost twice as large as the data stored in the physical disk.
Although Respawn Entertainment It has not been ruled on in this regard, this need to download content could mean that in the future players will not be able to play it, if access to the servers is closed. This fact reopens the debate on the supposed decline of the physical format and its possible disappearance, if the trend continues, in a few years.
