The PlayStation Showcase would be held in May, according to a well-known ‘insider’
Sony’s next big event will be the PlayStation Showcase in May., according to a well-known journalist. This program will serve to learn about upcoming projects from PlayStation Studios and other publishers on Sony platforms, as well as take a more in-depth look at games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 which is still scheduled for this year -September according to the latest information-.
The source of the rumor is Jeff Grubb, who has been commenting on the existence of a PlayStation Showcase to be held before the Summer Game Fest (8 of June). With E3 2023 cancelled, publishers will look for their own space or for manufacturers to show their news.
Now, Grubb not only reiterates his information but also gives a somewhat more specific date: “It’s safe to say that PlayStation Showcase takes place in May, and definitely before Summer Game Fest”, in case some mishap delays the Showcase to early June. The journalist has correctly guessed many State of Play dates -including the last one-, so in principle the comment has credibility.
To be a great event with the projects that will arrive in the short and medium term
“What’s happening is that Sony is saving their good stuff for another place, they’re saving the best for the PlayStation Showcase that we’ll see before E3,” Grubb commented on the low expectations for February’s State of Play and the importance of the May Showcase. . “It was supposed to be ready last fall but it was pushed back because its developers weren’t ready, but now they are, they will have a huge show that really prepares the second phase of PlayStation 5“.
Not many projects are known first party from Sony except for spider-man 2, Marvel’s Wolverine or the multiplayer of The Last of Us. This event could make official Ghost of Tsushima 2present some spin-off of Horizon or the new Santa Monica project, among others.
