Despite living weeks of uncertainties, the Vietnam Championship Series (VCS) will be able to return to World’s. Two years later, the Vietnamese representatives will fight again for the Summoner’s Cup. GAM Esports and Saigon Buffalo will be able to travel to the United States and Mexico respectively without having to worry about finding last-minute substitutes, as all players have obtained visas to travel.
On behalf of Saigon Buffalo, Bùi Văn Minh Hải «froggy» and Nguyễn Văn Trọng «Ren» (head coach) were the last members of the team to obtain visas. Instead, in GAM Esports -current champion of the VCS- the great “unknown” was Đỗ Duy Khánh «Levi«, star of the team. In any case, the famous Vietnamese jungler was the least of the worries for the club because he had previously been to the United States, something that meant an ease for him. GAM only hopes to have his full coaching staff, but he will be able to compete in World’s.

As the champion of the VCS, GAM Esports has qualified directly to the group stage of World’s. GAM is paired with Rogue and Top Esports. Instead, Saigon Buffalo will have to go through the play-in if you want to go to the group stage. The buffaloes will have to face DRX, Istanbul Wildcats, Isurus, MAD Lions and Royal Never Give Up. In the case of being first in their group they will access directly, however, from second to third position they will have to go through the playoffs.
After weeks of uncertainty about whether or not the VCS teams would travel in full, now the challenge for the region is to improve on the latest results. In 2017 GAM Esports made a big splash by being part of the triple playoff bracket against Fnatic and Immortals. In 2018 Saigon Buffalo finished bottom of the group with a 2-4 record against Afreeca Freecs, G2 Esports and Flash Wolves. But GAM failed to improve the records in 2019 by being bottom of group B -with FunPlus Phoenix, Splyce and J Team- with a 1-5.
