If you are a PlayStation 5 player and you are subscribed to PS Plus, surely you already know that you can enjoy many jewels from the PS4 catalog totally free. All thanks to the great compilation PSPlus Collection.
This bundle includes no less than 19 PS4 games (Persona 5 is no longer available), which you can install on your PS5 at no extra cost if you’re a PS Plus subscriber.
PS Plus Collection includes one of the best survival horror on the console: Resident Evil 7. This means that every PS5 user and PS Plus member can enjoy the Capcom game… but not from the next-gen update.
Resident Evil 7,2,3 – Next Gen Trailer
Capcom released the next-gen updates for Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 3 Remake, and Resident Evil 7 yesterday. All of you who own these games on PS4 will be able to upgrade to the PS5 versions.
What new features do these versions incorporate? Capcom confirmed that they work at 4K resolution and 60 fps, they are compatible with 3D audio, they support Ray Tracing and, in addition, they take advantage of the functions of the DualSense.
The problem is that not all versions of Resident Evil 7 support this update. If you have purchased the game in physical or digital format, you can update it to the PS5 version.
Instead, the version of Resident Evil 7 included in the PS Plus Collection does NOT allow this update. This means that it is required to have purchased the game to be able to update it.
Needless to say, this decision does not surprise us, because it is not the first time it has happened. A year ago, the holders of Final Fantasy 7 Remake via PS Plus they also couldn’t update it to the PlayStation 5 version.
If you want to enjoy the next-gen version of Resident Evil 7, it is mandatory to purchase the game, either from the PS Store or in physical format. Owners of the game via PS Plus Collection will only be able to play the PS4 version via backward compatibility.
This may not be a surprise, but it is a disappointment. Why? Well, because Resident Evil 7 is available on Xbox Game Pass… and this version does support next-gen upgrade on Xbox Series X|S.
One more time, Xbox Smart Delivery technology It beats game upgrades from PS4 to PS5. At the moment neither Sony nor Capcom have spoken about it, although players show their disappointment on social networks and forums.
