The Walking Dead: a new game has leaked, it’s very scary

A new The Walking Dead game has just been unveiled ahead of time with lots of info. The title should make fans of the AMC series very happy.

The Walking Dead franchise has been able to export beyond the borders of comics. First with a hit TV series, then with video games. The most popular of these being the narrative titles from Telltale Games. And after trying out VR again, the zombie license is preparing a very big surprise for fans. A new video game project is in development and it is coming much faster than you might think.

Leak of a new The Walking Dead game

Billbil-kun, the Dealabs member who systematically leaks PS Plus games, dropped a bunch of information about The Walking Dead Destinies. The new video game project of the zombie franchise. To tell the truth, the title even leaked much earlier, last January, but the details were very thin. It is indeed because or thanks to a trademark registration that the name has leaked. The software was then classified in the “video game” categories; “video game for use with mobile phones” and “downloadable PC video game”.

The leaker brings us today information on The Walking Dead Destinies, in the absence of images. Unfortunately, he did not wish to publish the pictures he has in his possession for legal issues. But no problem to dwell on the story, the theme, the release date etc. According to him, The Walking Dead Destinies is therefore a third-person action-adventure game where choices are central. It will be up to the players to decide the fate of the protagonists, heroes and villains alike.

And you won’t play an unknown character, but Rick Grimes. “You will play as Rick Grimes who wakes up from a coma to find his world changed forever. Among the places to visit in the game, we will find Atlanta, the Greene farm, the prison as well as Woodbury » (via Dealabs). After waking up in a post-apocalyptic world infested with undead, Rick Grimes will have to cut the infected with different firearms (revolver, shotgun…) and white weapons (katanas…), while collecting resources. This will be mandatory to survive yourself, but also to develop and strengthen a camp. The Walking Dead Destinies also seems to have other advantages for fans of the series.

Big fan-service and an editor who does not really reassure

The Walking Dead Destinies will fully play the fan-service card since 15 characters from the AMC series can be chosen to form a team. Only solo? In multiplayer? It is not specified. In addition to Rick, there will therefore be Shane, Michonne, Daryl, Merle, T-Dog, The Governor, Glenn, Lori, Carl and Carol. Obviously there aren’t 15, but that’s the list billbil-kun currently has. If these characters are back in a game, it is not trivial.

Indeed, The Walking Dead Destinies is a rereading of seasons 1 to 4 of the AMC series. The fans will therefore be on familiar ground, but they will be able to act on the story this time. It should then be possible to save a protagonist who dies and vice versa. We will be fixed shortly since this new game will be released on November 14, 2023, or at least in the fall of 2023, on PS5, PS4 Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC.

And we’ve saved the best for last, or rather the worst. The title would be published by GameMill Entertainment. The box of Nickelodean All-Star Brawl, Nerf Legends, Nick Kart Racers 3 or GI Joe Operation Blackout. We are light years away from the more mature atmosphere of the TWD franchise. But maybe a good surprise awaits us? Answer perhaps at Gamescom 2023 or by the start of the school year. As for The Walking Dead series, it is not over yet. Two excellent news have even announced.
