The Witcher 3: Patch 4.01 sneakily adds the best swords in the game
With the new swords, Geralt becomes the best monster hunter from The Witcher 3.
The 4.01 patch for The Witcher 3 mainly made sure that problems with the ray tracing mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S are a thing of the past. In the patch notes, developer CD Projekt Red revealed which other innovations flowed into the game with the update. However, the development team left out important information related to a blacksmith in Novigrad.

Why is? The blacksmith in Novigrad in the original version of the game lured that the witcher could find “top-class swords” there. Unfortunately, the swords were taken from his shop in the Complete Edition, so the sentence no longer made any sense and was removed from the game without further ado.
That changes with the new patch 4.01 in The Witcher 3: Suddenly the blacksmith calls us back with the promise that he has first-class swords. And indeed: If we start a trade with the blacksmith, he reveals to us what is probably the most unbeatable offer in The Witcher 3!

What are these swords? The smith has a pair of new swords for sale. These are the Witcher Steel Sword and the Witcher Silver Sword, both of which we get at the beginning of The Witcher 3.
However, these swords have a special feature: They not only have additional bonuses, but also scale with Geralt’s current level. With their immensely high attack value, the swords become the best weapons in the entire game, since there are no other weapons that scale with such a high level.

Did patch 4.01 help?
As mentioned at the beginning, patch 4.01 should primarily ensure that the ray tracing mode in The Witcher 3 no longer causes performance problems. As our editor Chris checked, the patch did indeed fix the problem. In the meantime, the frame rate only falls below 30 fps in the rarest of cases. In addition, the reflections have been improved.
