Some time ago it became known that The X-Files (The secret X files), would receive a spin-off’ as an animated comedy under the name The X-Files: Albuquerque. Chris Carter, creator of the original series, would be attached as an executive producer. A new report suggests that said project has been canceled and a ‘reboot’ series of movies is being planned instead. The X-Files in charge of ryan cooglerdirector of Black Panther and its sequel.
series of The X-Files starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI special agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, it ran for nine seasons from 1993 to 2002. From 2016 to 2018 it returned with short seasons 10 and 11, not reaching the same level as the original episodes . Two films released in theaters are also part of the mystery franchise supernatural and extraterrestrial conspiracies. He also had a comic book series.
The truth is still out
According to TV Line, the cancellation of The X-Files: Albuquerque comes after Chris Carter’s announcement about the ‘reboot’ series or reboot of The X-Files. This new version would not bring back the characters of Mulder and Scully – who are the heart of the series – but would introduce new agents and plots. With Ryan Coogler at the helm, the series is said to include an African-American lead.
In the case of the animated sitcom in Albuquerque, the ‘spin-off’ was intended to show lesser-grade agents on cases below the renown of Mulder and Scully. Too bizarre to be taken seriously. For the style of animated series like Inside Job (undercover work) and Star Trek: Lower Decks. Seen another way, the idea of the animated series of The X-Files it contradicted the basis of the cases investigated by Mulder and Scully. Considered in turn too strange to be taken seriously by the FBI.
If we take into account the number of times they closed and opened the division of the X files in the FBI, this is normal for cancellations and new series. A reboot of The X-Files in the middle of 2023 with the internet massively extended to the public? We’ll see how that turns out.
