A player is creating an unofficial version of Elden Ring for the Game Boy. Begin your journey through the Middle Lands on the 8-bit Nintendo handheld.
FromSoftware has made history again with Elden Ring, its latest Souls after the successes of Dark Souls, Bloodborne or Sekiro. Many players are still living great adventures in the Middle Lands.
Perhaps many of you have already finished the plot of Elden Ring, but his legacy lives on in the video game industry. It is time to expand the borders of the title further.
Elden Ring is available on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as PC, and we are currently without a Nintendo Switch version. But… What if it was a Game Boy game?
Elden Ring Analysis
It is obviously a utopia, but not in the mind of an imaginative designer. This player has shared his latest creation: a spectacular demake of Elden Ring, as if it were a title for Nintendo’s first Game Boy.
Incredible as it may seem, it is quite a luxury to see the protagonist of Elden Ring travel through the Middle Lands in 8-bit style. Possibly, this demake will be the most beautiful thing you will see today.
The user -shin- has shared a short video of this demake on Reddit, which begins in the Chapel of Anticipation and shows us how the controls, the dialogue system, as well as the visual style, work. Everything gives off that wonderful aroma at 8 bits.
The character can dodge and perform simple attacks, which greatly simplifies the gameplay of Elden Ring. What is most striking is that greenish tone of the games of the first Game Boy.
As a final icing, the video ends with an epic showdown against the Grafted Kindred. The character falls in battle (something common in Elden Ring), and the screen shows “You have died”. Marvelous.
In the words of its creator, development is progressing very well, and everything indicates that Limgrave will be finished by the end of May. Shin assures that he will release a demo as soon as possible. He is using the program GBStudio 3.0 to develop the game.
As if that were not enough, the creator of this demake will share its development through its Twitch channel. In other words, you can follow the creation of this Elden Ring for Game Boy live.
It’s not the first time a FromSoftware game has received this treatment. For example, Bloodborne had a great demake for PS1, and even its creators are already working on Bloodborne Kart; a real madness.
What do you think of this Elden Ring for Game Boy? Would you like to play it on the original console? According to Shin himself, the idea is for it to be compatible with original Nintendo hardware, but for now it can be run on emulators.
