The UA Academy from My Hero Academia
In Japanese, the full name of the academy is written “雄英高等学校” (“Yuuei High School” or “Yuuei Academy”). The pronunciation “yuuei” is attributed to the first two kanji found in the name, “雄英”, and this pronunciation sounds exactly like the letters “UA” in English.
Interestingly, those two kanji too are used to write the word “heroes”except that in the case of said word the kanji are interchanged, remaining as follows: “英雄”, since the only difference between these two words is the pronunciation, which in terms of the word heroes would be “eiyuu”.
From this we can come to the conclusion that “UA” (Yuuei) is the pronunciation of the word “heroes”, but backwardsthe name of the academy being a play on words that is somewhat difficult to decipher.
Although at first it was believed that the English translations were wrong for believing that the heroes said the letters “UA” when saying the name of the academy, the same anime revealed that this was not really the case, and that the name from the academy it was “UA”, reflecting said letters on the physical education uniform of the heroes, as well as due to the form of the institution itself.
