World of Warcraft: this mount disappears in the next expansion

Wold of Warcraft is coming to your next Dragonflight expansionwith the planned launch for November 28. Although this seems to be the respite that the RPG needs after the discussions about the conflict between Sylvanas and Tyrande, which seemed to upset a large part of the player base, it is not all good news.

In general, the expansion has good expectations from its audience, with new dungeons, the appearance of the Summoner of Dracthyr and the return of the Dragons of Azeroth, Dragonflight represents the change that WoW needed. That said, gamers can’t wait for Blizzard to deliver on its promise to bring some fresh air to multiplayer. However, there was a pre-release announcement that had fans worried.

Say goodbye to the Proto-Wyrm mount

While there were many features that needed to evolve within Blizzard’s release, they recently announced that Frostbrood’s awesome Proto-Wyrm mount will be gone once Dragonflight arrives. In other words, World of Warcraft players have little time to get their hands on the icy mount before the expansion launches.

In case you’re not familiar, Frostbrood’s Proto-Wyrm mount is a cross-promotion between World of Warcraft and Wrath of the Lich King Classic. You can get it on World of Warcraft accounts once you complete the initial Death Knight experience in Wrath of the Lich King Classic.

However, although it looks great and has its respective qualities, World of Warcraft warned its players that the special promotion was going to disappear with the release of Dragonflight, the next 28 of name. If players want to acquire it, they will have to hop on Wrath of the Lich King Classic, create a death knight, and level up through the Scarlet Enclave starting area. This means that when players complete the “Warchief’s Blessing” or “Where Kings Walk” quests, they will finally be able to obtain Frostbrood’s Proto-Wyrm which will appear within their mount collection in WoW.

Of course, it should be mentioned that the mount in question cannot be used as any World of Warcraft mount item, especially for Forsaken characters or Frost Death Knights. And furthermore, it is about the perfect mix of elements between Wrath of the Lich King Classic and Dragonflight. Unfortunately, Frostbrood’s Proto-Wyrm does not function as a Dragonflight mount at this time. However, hope should not be lost that it will be available again in future promotions or in the money store. In the meantime, players will have to get hold of it so they don’t lose it forever.

This news, of course, took WoW players by surprise, as at the time, they were fascinated by Frostbrood’s Proto-Wyrm mount for good reason. Both the animations and their textures are of great quality and it is not really that difficult to achieve.since it only takes a couple of hours. In fact, the starting experience of the Death Knight is one of the reference areas par excellence of the narrative of the Blizzard installment. In fact, it lays the groundwork for other similar experiences, like the Dracthyr Evoker’s Forbidden Reach in Dragonflight and the Exile’s Reach. And now that Blizzard has decided to withdraw it, it motivated many players to get it before it becomes impossible.

In short, a lot of World of Warcraft fans were upset that this incredible mount was only a limited time offer, especially since the loss makes them feel like they might lose something. This kind of manipulation is known as FOMO, and unfortunately for all, it has been used by World of Warcraft for a long time. In fact, they consider this mount would have to be a permanent addition to World of Warcraft…or at least be available until Wrath of the Lich King Classic ends.

The complaints about this decision have been vast, so it is likely that Blizzard will finally listen to its audience and keep promoting it beyond launch. However, this is not a given and you’d better get it before the Dragonflight expansion hits your devices.
