This VR microphone is shaped like a muzzle and promises not to let any sound in or out
Although it doesn’t seem to be having much acceptance among the community, the idea of a metaverse built on the basis of virtual reality has awakened the minds of many technology companies that are working on peripherals with which to make this parallel world more realistic: if a few days ago we talked about shoes to walk in VR, today it is the turn of a curious microphone in the shape of a muzzle.
This device is an invention of Shiftall, a company that presented it during CES 2023 promising unprecedented noise reduction. They have named it ‘mutalk’ and it consists of a device very similar to the first VR glasses, but instead of the eyes it is placed in the mouth and remains there thanks to some strips that surround our head. In this way we can have a microphone with extensive noise reduction that is also practically soundproof.
The microphone that doesn’t let in (or out) annoying noises
That is to say, mutalk not only prevents the sounds of our environment from entering, but also ensures that the user’s voice does not come out of the device: as you can see in the video inserted below these lines, Shiftall’s invention Will he be able to drown out our voices as we scream during an online gaming session. The idea is to create a soundproof space that allows not to disturb while we use the microphone, at the same time that remove background noise that comes from abroad.
Although it seems to be designed with virtual reality in mind, the truth is that this muzzle microphone can be used in many other areas: the video shows examples of use with meetings, gaming and of course VR. It can also be used without attaching it to the head, holding it in the hand, something that may be less visually impressive but certainly more uncomfortable.
In any case, mutalk does not yet have a date of arrival on the market. It is expected to be released this year in the United States. Nor do we know what its price will be.
