Do you still need Lucky Tokens in the MMO New World? You can currently get…
Google now has a cute top-down Zelda alternative for you that you can play directly in your browser for free. This sends you to historical Mexico, more precisely, to the mysterious world of the ancient Mayan culture. We tell you more about The Descent of the Serpent.
Zeldalike in the Mayan world
It’s all about this: The adventure starts in the museum, where a talking statue asks you to help out in the Mayan world. More specifically, you should bring back a lost artifact stolen by a powerful god in time. Otherwise there is a risk of a catastrophic flood. Before you travel back in time, you must choose the appropriate disguise, meaning you become a cuddly wolf, dog, jaguar or owl warrior, all of which have evocative Mayan names.
Then head to the historic town of Chichen Itza, of which today in reality only ruins remain on the Mexican peninsula of Yucatán. There you will meet Quetz, a bird with a chic headdress, who will tell you more about the world and your task.

In this game, developed by the Google’s Arts and Culture team with the help of Mexico’s National Museum of Anthropology, you will not only have an adventure, but also learn more about the cultures of Mesoamerica. You can find more information on the subject on the linked website. There are also Google’s Arts and Culture apps for iOS and Android that you can use to play the game as well.
By the way: The game might not only be interesting for you, but also looks like a nice title for kids.
