Creative Assembly is in the crosshairs of fans for the change in pricing policies with the new DLC for Total War: Warhammer III – Shadows of Change.

The price of the DLC, which includes 3 lords, some new units and campaEsports Extrasmechanics, is 24.99 euros. This is the same price as the Chaos Dwarfs Forge faction pack, which again received criticism for its price. Previously, lord packs cost around €8, while faction DLCs cost €15.

The barrage of criticism has already begun, but a recent statement from Creative Assembly tries to explain the reason for the cost increase and calm things down. In a new blog entry they say the following:

“To cut to the chase: our costs have gone up. Unfortunately, that means prices have to go up. We know that any increase is going to be tough, so our prices have been fairly stable over the past few years. The downside is that any increase today is going to be more noticeable.

There is no good time to raise prices, and we have not taken this move lightly. However, it is the business reality of supporting WARHAMMER III and ensuring that we can deliver the years of bonus content that is currently planned.

That being said, we need to make sure that this cost remains profitable. Ultimately, that is something for each of you to decide and we will continue to try to balance it. Of course, we want more people to play, we want to continue to deliver content that you’re excited about, and we want to do that for as long as we can.”

Still, it doesn’t look like this is going to stop the general malaise. What do you think of the new Total War: Warhammer III DLC price?
