Actually, free subs are a nice gift to give to others on Twitch. The streamer and role player Jack found out during a GTA Online session that these can also be “dangerous” and even yelled at his own viewers because they kept giving him subscriptions. But what’s the problem?
Who is that anyway? On his Twitch channel with around 123,000 followers, Jack mainly shows how he roleplays on the large NoPixel server in GTA Online.
There he embodies the character “Jack ‘Cookie’ Knox”. But a recent session gave the streamer cause for frustration. Because some pranksters among his viewers drove him crazy with free subscriptions.
What’s up with these subs? Usually, a subscription to Twitch costs money. But you can also give others such a subscription, which means that the streamer potentially gets new subscribers who would otherwise not want to pay.
So this is actually a nice gesture. However, with Jack, this gesture was used to simultaneously troll the streamer.
Because while Jack ‘Cookie’ Knox was in the thick of battle, they found it amusing to give him free subs. Each of these subs activates an animation, including voice and sound effects, which are quite distracting and even make the game stutter.
This in turn led to the in-game death of the streamer, who didn’t find it funny at all. You can watch part of the stream here:
“Hey, you make me lose!”
Initially, the streamer thanked the subs, but noted that they make his game stutter. First, he politely asks them to stop: “You guys are lagging my game, please stop. I’m in enemy territory.”
But the more hectic the situation in the game became, the more the free subscriptions annoyed him and he got louder and louder.
Eventually, Jack was shot dead seconds after being injured by a sub in a firefight. He could only keep shouting: “Stop giving me subs, stop giving me subs! I can not play!”
Of course, after Jack has bitten the dust in the game, his viewers don’t stop, but give him more and more subs. Anyway, the chat was lively and fun, because the viewers had a great time at the expense of Jack, whom they call the Cookieman.
They couldn’t get along anymore, apart from the free subscriptions, there was almost only news from the “OMEGALUL” brand and other subs, which kept raining down on the streamer.
Some even directed others to give away even more subs, while others scoffed at the streamer’s PC. In the end, Jack disabled some of the annoying overlays to counteract the trolls.
Overall, it was annoying for the Twitch streamer, but when he rewatches the scenes himself, he already has to laugh again. It was probably delicious fun for his viewers, but the chat didn’t get any further.
