Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has said that the publisher will attend E3 2023 with “a lot to show.” Guillemot also commented that Ubisoft would be there “if” E3 really happens.
Late last year, event organizers ReedPOP confirmed that E3 would return for an in-person event in 2023 for the first time since 2019.
The gaming expo has experienced increasing difficulties in recent years due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing numerous events to be cancelled. The last E3 event took place in 2021, but it was strictly an online-only showcase.
It’s unclear why Guillemot was alluding to the apparent uncertainty surrounding this year’s E3 celebration.
Details of the revamped format of E3 2023, which will have separate business and consumer events spread over four days in June, were revealed late last year.
The Assassin’s Creed publisher’s commitment to backing E3 comes after reports that Sony and Nintendo won’t be attending this year’s event. Historically, Ubisoft has been a strong supporter of E3 and hasn’t missed a show in the last 20 years. There has also been uncertainty about Microsoft’s plans for the event.
Microsoft will have some sort of presence in Los Angeles this year with a summer showcase already announced. However, according to IGN, the Xbox firm will not have a presence on the show floor at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
