Ubisoft cancels its own “Overwatch”, and it has not even been a year since it was presented in society

Ubisoft has been on the ropes for a while now. Although the Gauls announced a good batch of their star saga, Assassin’s Creed, beyond Mirage the future of the company is extremely foggy. There are many doubts about the future of a company that this week is facing a strike by its workers, and today we know what is one of your last canceled games.

If you have not followed the news during these weeks, with the delay of Skull and Bones to a date to be determined, the Gauls also announced the cancellation of 3 unknown projects. While we didn’t know which or how advanced those games were, Tom Henderson points out that it’s nothing but projects Qthe known as “Ubisoft’s Overwatch”.

The game did not have, as far as we know, a development studio assigned within Ubisoft, it was presented to society in April 2022 making it clear that the players would own this gaming experience. A declaration of intentions that were not very clear from the beginning, although the Frenchmen decided to plan up to 3 closed tests during the past year.

We don’t really know what happened or what were the problems that both players and developers have encountered, but the game will not see the light of day, at least not as it was conceived. What we do know is that Project Q would seek to compete on the same terrain as Overwatch with a focus multiplayer focused on PvP with clearly differentiated heroes.

At least as far as reported, Project Q is not one of those NFT standard-bearers that Ubisoft was preparing for the future market, and even if it were, it would have been a failed decision. For now, Ubisoft has not commented on the matterso we will wait for new details.
