Riot Games announces that on January 10th Episode 6 Act I of VALORANT starts. With the new episode, the new Lotus map will be added to the map pool. Set in Omega Earth’s India, the new map brings new mechanics and is modeled after lost cities. In addition to the Battlepass, the Skin Bundle Araxys be available.
Act I of Episode Six brings with it a new map. lotus is a lost city in the Western Ghats, India, inspired by traditional Indian stepwells and Dravidian architecture carved into the rock. The three areas and the new mechanics are special: rotating doors, a destructible wall and a silent shaft. Brian Yam, Art Lead at Riot Games explains, “We wanted to explore the idea of great adventures, ancient mysteries, and lost ancient structures. Indiana Jones was one of our biggest inspirations. Visually, we were fascinated by the rock-cut architecture, as it lends the theme a mystical vibe. It also took us in a new direction compared to our existing maps, as most of them are mostly urban or feature modern architecture.” With their three areas, Lotus brings a lot of new things, offering both teams great flexibility and movement.
The Battle Pass for the latest episode comes with numerous rewards. In addition to banners, titles, talismans and sprays, this also includes the skin series 9 lives and venturi. Laura Baltzer, Producer at Riot Games, explains the goals for this Battle Pass: “This year we’re focusing on the unity and teamwork that’s so central to VALORANT but of course with a fun twist. With the skin line 9 lives you can create a full team where all agents are cats. Items like the graffiti lucky charm and the talisman New Year’s knot celebrate the new year and festivals with families and friends. The talisman peace and love was also developed with this theme of unity and togetherness in mind.”
The Battle Pass costs 1,000 VP but also comes with free rewards. Additionally, separately from the Battlepass, the Araxys Skin Bundle will be available which offers skins for Vandal, Operator, Shorty, Bulldog and Meelee. aim for Araxys was the embodiment of danger, mystery and power of an unknown and potentially dangerous alien race. “We were inspired by the idea of inorganic beings, bodies made of metal and minerals that still breathe. The story behind it is that these weapons were once wielded by an aggressive and dangerous alien race: large creatures, armored with impenetrable scales, wielding advanced weaponry that could defeat opponents in the blink of an eye,” explains Victoria Kim, Producer for VALORANT.
