Valve has played us with the next update of Team Fortress 2

The Team Fortress 2 community was perked up a few days ago after Valve released a statement announcing that the game was getting an update, an “expansion-sized update”, and that it might contain “who knows what else”. Needless to say, the broadness of the sentence and the open terms led many to believe that it would be something truly expansive.

However, it appears that this will not be the case, as Valve has retracted this claim and redacted the original text so that one of the two quotes above now reads as “holiday size update”, and the another has been removed entirely.

It keeps mentioning that the update will deliver: “items, maps, taunts, unusual effects, war paints, and other community-contributed gameplay fixes,” but anyone expecting much more should check their expectations.

In short, Valve has teased us and misled us a bit with what this update will actually deliver, but in any case, we’ll know for sure soon as it looks like the update is scheduled for summer.
