Voxel School inaugurates the conference ”Art, Education and Industry” together with the Minister of Industry, Reyes Maroto
the university center Voxel School opened on February 24 the Conference ”Art, Education and Industry”. He did it hand in hand with the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism of the Government of USA, maroto kings. In addition, these conferences also included agents from education, agents from the entertainment industry and technology.
The day began with the visit of Reyes Maroto to the campus of the University Center for Digital Arts. Accompanied by José Cuesta, director of the school, Ignacio Martínez de Salazar, academic director, and José María Guibert Ucín, rector of the University of Deusto, SJ With this visit, the minister was able to learn about the academic model of the school, visiting spaces such as the one with PlayStation inside the school itself or Kraken 3D Studios facilities.
After this visit, the Conference “Art, Education and Industry” was inaugurated with a round table entitled “Education in digital art as a basis for the creative media & entertainment industry”. All the people mentioned above have participated in it together with Mr. Jorge Huguet, General and Marketing Director at Sony Interactive Entertainment.
The minister described Voxel as “A pioneering and recognized school in the field of digital economy, which has been training digital artists for a few years now.” In addition, she insisted on the importance and rise of the video game industry in USA ” It combines culture, creative talent and technology and that, thanks to the good work of the companies that make up this industry, is called to play a very relevant role within the digital economy of our country”.
Jose Cuestadirector of the school, has affirmed that “the participation of the university within the industry as the base of the pyramid is essential. Technology advances unstoppably and it is essential for companies to have their personnel qualified and updated to be able to compete in the market international”.
Also highlighted in the round table was a note made by José María Guibert, Rector of the University of Deusto, on research into how this sector influences people’s psychology and what consequences it has or can have.
Lastly, Jorge Huguet emphasized the importance of understanding between the public and the private spheres in order to continue advancing quickly and take advantage of the moment the sector is experiencing.
In addition to the round table, four new degrees were announced. These were the following: Degree in DesEsports Extrasand Digital Arts for Videogames, Degree in Digital Animation Cinema, Degree in Graphic DesEsports Extrasand Motion Graphics and Degree in Composition, Post-production and Visual Effects. To end the day, an open house was organized so that families with children in high school could visit the campus, as well as enjoy different activities.
