Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will introduce a new class system in the coming months, equipping their current 4 classes with new branching skill trees.
These skill trees will allow players to take certain specializations that differ greatly from the current rigid path of their current class. He Ogre Skullcrackfor example, can get a huge grenade, while the Psychokinetic Psyker now has a new Smite power.
Speaking to PC Gamer, Darktide Game Director Anders De Geer stated: “We wanted players to have a little more agency in the classes, a little more experimentation, to support a lot more different playstyles. We felt like the Ogre fantasy wasn’t over. The Psyker story wasn’t over. So “We wanted to add more. Basically, what we’ve done is reimagined what a class is in Darktide. This is our big update: we’ve expanded the talent trees, added a bunch of new options and abilities, passives and actives.”
This is all part of the long road Darktide is taking to rebuild its relationship with its players. At the time of its release, there was mixed reaction from critics and players as while the gameplay was solid, the depth was not up to the standard of Warhammer: Vermintide II.
Will you be back in battle at Darktide in October?
