Why Wolverine Is Getting Hunkier In The Xmen Movies
We’ve all seen Bryan Singer’s X-Men movie, now 23 years old, and have compared Hugh Jackman’s body in that movie to his bodybuilder physique in Origins: Wolverine, now 14 years old. Considering that Hugh landed the role three weeks before shooting began because Dougray Scott, the one who was going to play Wolverine, couldn’t fit in his schedule, it’s not too much of a stretch to think that his physique has improved over the years and with a lot of training, but now there’s a fan-created theory that tries to use logic to explain why Logan keeps getting beefier and beefier.
“The more damage he takes, the more his body compensates by increasing his muscle mass. In the early X-Men, he hasn’t taken heavy damage for a while, which negates the need to increase his protection. So I know the official explanation outside of the In-universe is that Hugh Jackman didn’t have the time to get into superhero shape. But here’s a probably ridiculous in-universe explanation. So before the events of X-Men, Logan seems to be a traveler, slipping under the radar and having trouble. to remember who he is. He participates in cage fights in bars to earn extra money, but takes little damage from his opponents.
If we give credence to the theory and extrapolate it to the other movies, where he was constantly being shot at, stabbed, exploded and so on, it makes sense. The more punishment he takes, the more muscular he becomes, as if his healing factor kicks in more from more damage, rebuilding him bigger and stronger. If you look at the movies where he fights most often, that’s when he’s the biggest. It could even shrink in size so that its body conserves energy in times when it’s not subjected to constant damage.”
