Assassin's Creed timeline may become more “confusing”

Assassins Creed Codename Red

Assassin's Creed is a Ubisoft franchise known for its complex narrative, which mixes historical elements with science fiction. The games are divided into modern plots, connected to each other, and historical ones, set in different eras. With Red, Jade, and Hexe, the franchise's timeline could get even more complicated.

The Assassin's Creed timeline is complex due to its thirteen main games, not counting spin-off or mobile titles. The series seeks a continuous narrative in all editions, which makes the chronology even more complicated.

For example, the first game in the series is actually the fifth chronologically, with number 1 on the timeline being the tenth released. Additionally, the series has focused less on the conflict between Assassins and Templars and more on the history of the Isu and the Pieces of Eden.

According to early information, Assassin's Creed Hexe and Assassin's Creed Red have Animus settings set for Feudal Japan and Central Europe in the 16th century, respectively. In turn, Jade will take place in China during the Warring States period in the 3rd century BC

These changes could make the series' narrative even more complex, especially if they continue to explore the history of the Isu, Assassins and Templars.

Rumors suggest that Red's modern-day plot could be set decades in the future, adding more layers to the plot. This complexity may be attractive to some players, but it may hinder the narrative consolidation expected by others.
