New The Matrix movie already in production

After the premiere of The Matrix Resurrections In 2021, many thought the franchise had come to an end, especially considering the mixed reception to this film. However, today it has been confirmed that A new movie starring Neo is already in development at Warner Bros.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, A new Matrix movie is already in development, with Drew Goddard directing and writing the script.. Although Lana and Lilly Wachowski are not involved from a creative standpoint, Lana Wachowski will take on the role of executive producer this time around. This is what Jesse Ehrman, president of production at Warner Bros. Motion Pictures, commented on the matter:

“Drew came to Warner Bros. with a new idea that we all believe would be an incredible way to continue the world of The Matrix, honoring what Lana and Lilly started over 25 years ago and offering a unique perspective based on his own love of the series and the characters. The entire Warner Bros. Discovery team is thrilled that Drew is making his new Matrix movie, adding his vision to the cinematic canon that the Wachowskis spent a quarter-century building here at the studio.”

For his part, this is what Goddard commented on the matter:

“It is not an exaggeration to say that the Matrix films changed both cinema and my life. “Lana and Lilly’s exquisite art inspires me daily and I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to tell stories in their world.”

Unfortunately, there are no further details at the moment. The type of story that will be presented to us on this occasion, the actors involved, the release date, and much more is unknown. For those who don't recognize the director's name, Goddard has been in charge of the script in films such as cloverfield and The Martianand directed films like The Cabin in the Woods and Bad Times at the El Royaleso he has the necessary experience to give us something that is very worthwhile.
