A Call of Duty streamer recently had fun pretending to be a hacker in Modern Warfare 3, arousing the suspicion of his teammates and opponents to the point of even being temporarily banned for “cheating”.

The problem of cheating in Call of Duty is a persistent phenomenon. Despite numerous waves of bans and improvements to the Ricochet anti-cheat system, the problem remains and, in 2024, many players believe it will get worse again.

Some content creators like to “trick” their viewers by pretending to cheat, like Symfuhny, who is often accused of doing so, thus attracting numerous accusations of cheating.

This is precisely what streamer Bams pretended to do while playing Modern Warfare 3 in public play, with his teammates quickly taking the bait by accusing him of cheating.

Bams receives ban from MW3 for “cheating”

While playing Shoot House, Bams would start moving randomly and “tracking” opponents through walls, which quickly led to his teammates calling him a cheater, even though he was just pretending by aiming for the sky or places where there were no enemies.

If he and his teammates found it funny during the game, the mood changed after the victory. They urged everyone in the lobby to report Bams, who begged them not to.

Afterward, he was disconnected from the Call of Duty servers and, upon checking, discovered that his matchmaking had been throttled — meaning he had been shadowbanned from the game.

It remains to be seen whether Bams will receive a permanent ban, but as long as he stops “pretending to cheat” he might be fine and continue playing normally.
